William Stackman, Technical Director, dies at 66
This past summer the Puppet Showplace family experienced a loss.
Long time Technical Director and PST friend Will Stackman passed away after a long illness. Those of you who knew Will remember him as the "know-it-all", pack rat, and man who would bend over backwards to help his friends. Time with Will could be challenging but behind his gruffness was the biggest heart you could ever find. He will be greatly missed.
Will's full obituary in the Boston Globe July 27, 2007.
Board of Trustee Changes
Alice Schaefer's term as Head of Board of Trustees ended this
fall and board member, Sarah Lamstein has been appointed to the position.
PST would like to thank Alice for all her years of service and
dedication. We are happy that she has chosen to continue serving the Board in an advisory capacity.
We are also welcoming two new Board members Allan Telio
and Ray Estes. Allan comes to us from his association with Kitsch N' Sync, the improve comedy troupe that performs at the theater and Ray from volunteer lawyers for the Arts.
Their complete bios can be found on our new
Board of Trustees page.
Sarah Lamstein has been named New Head of Board of Trustees
Sarah Lamstein is known to the PST audience from her puppet show
"Funny Bone Tales" but what you may not have known she is also a children's book author. This fall Sarah is celebrating the publication of her newest book, "Letter on the Wind", a retelling of a Jewish folktale reminding readers of the first Chanukah, and illustrated by Neil Waldman.

New in the Theatre...
Our Appearance
We have made a few physical changes to the lobby and theatre
this past September. We had a new drop ceiling and lighting fixtures installed in the lobby and theatre spaces. We have swapped the location of our Puppet Store and Birthday Party Tables to open the space up a bit more. We have a fresh coat of paint on the lobby floor, handicap bathroom, and the deck of the stage.
They say purple is the new pink! You have to see it to believe it.
Ticket Prices
Beginning November 1st, the Puppet Showplace Theatre will
increase its ticket price fifty cents from $9.50 general admission to $10.00 and $7.50 for members to $8.00.
Consider becoming a member to receive the $2.00 discount

Fall Events
Members Annual Meeting
On October 28th the Puppet Showplace Theatre held the Annual
Meeting for our members. Judith O'Hare of You & Me Puppets presented a program about using puppetry with your children. Judy highlighted the benefits of puppet play as a way of communicating, expressing, and assessing your child's thoughts, feelings, and development. Judy's final urging to the members was "Buy a puppet not a video game!"
After the program presentation Executive Director, Kris
Higgins and Artistic Director, Kathleen Conroy Mukwashi shared the highlights of the 2007 fiscal year.
Some of the artistic highlights were the presentation of 356
shows, 10 Unima Citation of Excellence recipient performances, a new production from Artist In Residence Paul Vincent Davis, and adult show Vertigo of Sheep by Thingumajig Theatre from London.
Executive highlights were 112 new or increased donations from
previous year, grant income is up 22% from the 2005 fiscal year, membership revenue is up 65% from last year, and nearly 500 underserved children visited the theatre this year with funding from Associated Grant Makers and Wal-Mart. The most significant contributions were a $10,000 matching grant from the Brookline Community Foundation and $15,000 from 2 private family foundations. Thank you to all our members and supporters for a positive year.
First Light
The Puppet Showplace Theatre is joining with local businesses
again this year to celebrate Brookline First Light on Thursday November 28th from 5-8pm.
The Puppet Showplace will present mini performances every half
hour by Artist in Residence, Paul Vincent Davis and puppeteer Deborah Costine of Gerwick Puppets.
Please join us in this festive evening of shopping, music, dance,
art, and puppetry. A little tip for those participating in the evening-we are a location for the scavenger hunt being introduced this year.
