How do puppeteers turn inanimate objects into living, breathing characters? Find out in this NEW performance skills class, taught by Artistic Director Roxanna Myhrum. First, we’ll develop our foundational animation skills and hone our expressive movement vocabulary through fun and creative exercises involving found objects. Each session we’ll do a deep dive into a particular puppetry technique, including glove puppetry, mouth puppetry, and table top puppetry. We’ll also learn effective role preparation, rehearsal techniques, character “mock-up” methods, and ways of using “outside eyes” to get constructive feedback. Along the way, we will explore mini-scenes for puppets from popular theatrical productions. This is a great class for actors, designers, drama educators, and anyone who is puppet-curious!
Recommended for adults and teens.
