Pop Up Puppetry!

Learn how to turn colorful flat images into three dimensional live-action performances using pop-up scenery, paper puppets, simple angles, and more! Drawing inspiration from picture books, movies, or family pictures, each participant will make their own paper pop-up tableaux. Participants will see examples of this technique applied to a professional puppet production, and will learn how to modify the activity for all ages. A great class for crafters, teachers, visual artists, makers, and anyone who wants their holiday cards to be so much more.
Recommended for adults and teens. All experience levels welcome.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
PuppetKabob is an award-winning touring puppet company founded in 2001 by artist Sarah Frechette. Sarah is a puppeteer, designer, and arts educator whose work has been experienced in theaters, museums, art galleries, TV and film. Together with Jason Thibodeaux, she won the Unima-USA Citation of Excellence for the traveling trunk show The Snowflake Man. Sarah’s studio work as a puppet fabricator and artisan includes: LAIKA, HOUSE Special, Bent Image Lab, and the PBS children’s television series SeeMore’s Playhouse.
