About the Show

A comically chilling puppet show, featuring a family secret… worth murdering for? On her deathbed, the undertaker of the Warehouse Family Funeral Home changes her last will and testament. Soon, a secret begins to unravel, and an evil plan is formed… Get ready for deliciously dark comedy, strange contraptions, spiritual possessions, and a soul not even death can stop.

Sofie Krog Teater is one of the leading puppet theaters in Denmark, known for creating a unique, comical universe with magical set designs that open up to create amazement and wonder for the audience. The House uses a revolving set and glove puppets — all operated by two puppeteers — to tell this thriller-comedy story. Puppet Showplace Theater has joined forces with Sandglass Theater, Mayo Street Arts, and the Chicago International Puppet Arts Festival to bring The House to Brookline for two nights only!

Step behind closed doors into rooms hiding unspeakably dark deeds, thrilling twists, and hilarious horror. Meet quirky characters like Henry, a gutless good-for-nothing who keeps the fire hot in the big black crematorium oven, and Flora, who is as cold as ice, with a weakness for gold — don’t ever turn your back on this woman…

Sofie Krog, artistic director, puppet maker and puppeteer

Sofie originally trained in physical theater and Method Acting at comedy and mime schools in Denmark and England. Today she works as a self-taught puppet maker, stage designer, and puppeteer.
