About the Show

Princesses can be named after vegetables, witches can have good intentions, and sometimes you need a little song to help you get through the day! A charming rendition of a classic story, this watercolor fairy tale comes to life using glove puppetry and slapstick comedy!

Originally written and performed at The Puppet Co. Playhouse in Glen Echo, Maryland, puppeteer and former Artistic Director Elizabeth Dapo performs this seven-puppet show solo, with humor and wit — a delight for audiences of all ages.

After the Show: Meet the Puppets & More!

Stay after the show to meet the artists and see the puppets up close!

Plus, enjoy a dress-up station and coloring sheets! These activities are available after every performance, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm.

All ages welcome, especially enjoyed by ages 4+

About the Artist

Elizabeth Dapo (she/her) is a puppeteer and fabricator who has been working in professional theater since she was a teenager. After graduating with her MA from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010, Liz has been lucky enough to have travel the world with and for her art as a puppeteer and puppet maker. From 2020-2024, she was the Artistic Director of the Puppet Co in Glen Echo, Maryland. Liz currently works as the Shop Supervisor at Monkey Boys Productions, a workshop that makes professional puppets and props for television, stage, and film. Liz is also the lead performer and puppeteer on "Albie's Elevator" a WHYY/PBS children's show (which you can find on Youtube!) When not performing or making puppets, she enjoys spending time with her husband (Joel), puppy dogs (Mabel and Mollie), watching anime, reading, and playing video games.
