When five-year-olds feel powerful πŸ’ͺ

Dear friends,

As I write this letter, I’m listening through the curtain to kindergarteners on a field trip. The Gottabees are on stage. Bonnie and her monster puppets have just slumped down, defeated β€” I can hear the sad musical moment. And then I hear the kids start to chant: β€œYou can do it! Keep doing it!”

Their chanting generates momentum for the character on stage to overcome her challenges β€” incredible power in the hands of five-year-olds!

This is a good kind of power. A kind of power I want kids to feel and practice. (I’m not crying; you’re crying!)

Each of us alone is small β€” but through puppetry, we celebrate the power of the small.

Puppet Showplace is small, too, and powered by the support of audience members like you! When you make a gift to our Spring Fundraiser, your donation makes an impact in the lives of countless children, adults, artists, and communities. By donating to Puppet Showplace, you are:

  • Supporting our popular free Summer Outdoor Series, which doubled in size last year and continues to grow this summer!

  • Celebrating diverse cultures and identities through our Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers Showcase on June 20, our presentation of South Indian shadow puppetry by firelight on July 25, and more!

  • Expanding the reach of our Affordable Access programs, which supported 17% of our audience and distributed over $40,000 in free and discounted tickets last year!

Thank you for your generosity, and being part of this small-yet-mighty theater.
