Last weekend, puppet fans donned their festive best for A Diwali Double Feature! by WonderSpark Puppets and The Culture Tree. Audiences giggled through two lively tales celebrating the victory of light over darkness.
“As a kid growing up here, I would have never imagined the Diwali story being showcased this way and it's really wonderful to see such representation,” shared one audience member.
After the show, the celebration continued! Grown-ups and kiddos enjoyed a snack of phool makhana sprinkled with garam masala, got creative with a paper lantern craft, and added their artistic mark to a communal coloring sheet.
On Saturday, we were treated to a special bonus: Four young dancers from the Triveni School of Dance shared beautiful traditional and classical dance pieces between puppet shows!
All in all, it was a very sweet Diwali at Puppet Showplace Theater this year — full of joy, creativity, and community! 🥰
Puppet Showplace thanks the Town of Brookline's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Relations; Triveni School of Dance; and The Culture Tree for supporting the festivities!
