GBH Boston Public Radio: Interview with The Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers Leadership Team

Still from GBH Boston Public Radio’s interview with the Creative Residency of Black Puppeteers leadership on June 19th, 2025.

Yesterday, Puppet Showplace hit the radio waves!

This Juneteenth, GBH Boston Public Radio’s Jim Braude and Margery Eagan interviewed our Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers (or CRBP) leadership team, including CRBP Community Curator Tanya Nixon-Silberg, Puppet Showplace Artistic Associate and CRBP Residency Coordinator Ashley Winkfield, and this year's CRBP Project Mentor Charlotte Lily Gaspard.

From Left to Right: Puppet Showplace Artistic Director Veronica Barron, current CRBP Project Mentor Charlotte Lily Gaspard, CRBP Community Curator Tanya Nixon-Silberg, and Puppet Showplace Artistic Associate and CRBP Residency Coordinator Ashley Winkfield, at GBH Boston Public Radio’s studios.

Over the course of the 20-minute segment, the CRBP team shared all about the residency’s upcoming performance — Amplify: The Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers Showcase — exhibiting performances by the five fellows of the 2025 cohort and other artists from the CRBP community.

To kick things off, Margery Eagan named herself a second generation Puppet Showplace Theater audience member, saying, “I took my kids to the Puppet Showplace Theater, now my grandchildren are going there. It’s a wonderful place!”
