The Boston Globe: "A professional puppeteer builds a world with its own set of rules"

Puppet Showplace Resident Artist Sarah Nolen

Puppet Showplace’s Resident Artist is in the news!

Recently, The Boston Globe sat down for an interview with Resident Artist Sarah Nolen of Puppet Motion! Globe journalist Cate McQuaid stepped into Sarah’s Waltham studio and learned all about her work, including her latest show Party Animals which premiered at Puppet Showplace as a part of our Incubator for New Works program this June!

When asked about what she makes, “What don’t I make?” was Nolen’s response!

“With puppetry, you’re building a world that is not human-centric. That world has its own rules, it has its own aesthetic, and it has its own needs. Whatever world that is, it’s going to come with different starting points.”
